Salary & Pay Raises 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I recently passed the ADDA Drafter certification test and presented it to my employeer at my review. I started at a low wage and have gotten small raises every year that don't add up to much. Anyone know what is average pay for a mechanical drafter in Iowa?

You typical "Base Pay Rate" for an entry level is usually around $10-$12/hour. This is in any field for drafting. It really depends on how many years of experience you have in one particular field and if you have any managerial experience to bring to the table as well. If you jump around from one to the other, then your pay rate will likely be lower than someone who stays within one field for many years.

The ADDA certification does help in your situation, possibly allowing for a $1-3/hour raise. But that depends on your employer.

I'm mainly in one field of drafting and began my job being very familiar with it. And I still started in that base pay rate.

My employer did not care about the certification. My boss didn't even come close to $0.50 cent raise for me. So I have decided to leave my employer for many different reasons.
