die lines (packaging) 11 Months ago Karma: -1
For those who may not be familiar with Packaging, there is a term "die line" or "dieline" which I was asked to verify the spelling for someone a while back. It is the term used for creating the correct layout for a packaging item.

My question is: Is it one word or two. It's important because we are preparing documents with this term.

The dictionary does not show it as either. I know it's an industry-specific term so I would like an industry-specific answer, if possible.

I would appreciate any help...

Thanks,
Manny Silva

Good question. I just checked with "The Drafting Zone" website (draftingzone.com) and did not find a reference to your question nor have I any past knowledge of this particular issue. However, as a former checker, I would use two words: die line. This may be a issue that you may want to add to your companies drafting standards to eliminate further confusion.

Best of luck!

I found a quick reference for that term at http://www.chicagopop.com/solutions.htm It's spelled as "Die Line". This should help you.

Thanks for checking. That's probably what we'll use in our documents.
